Sell Your Alexandrite at ALLU

Alexandrite is a gemstone with a magical presence, capable of changing colour depending on the light source. Under sunlight or fluorescent light, it turns a yellowish hue of green or blue. When exposed to a miniature light bulb or candlelight, it turns purplish red or a vermilion close to auburn.

This gemstone of elusive glow was discovered in 1830 in the Ural Mountains at the time of the Russian Empire. As it was found in an emerald mine, it was initially thought to be an emerald. Still, the difference between the blue-green colour when exposed to daylight and the red hue it changed into at night indoors was so apparent that it was quickly recognised as a new kind of stone. It was therefore presented to the Russian emperor as a rare stone. The name “Alexandrite” comes from the fact that the very same day it was presented was the birthday of the then Crown Prince Alexander II.

Alexandrite is a variant of chrysoberyl, which is called “golden green stone” in Japanese. In normal conditions, chrysoberyl is often yellow or green and does not change colour depending on the light source. The unique shift of colour appearance of alexandrite is called the “alexandrite effect,” and only the gemstones with this special quality are called “alexandrite.” Compared to other famous stones, alexandrite’s history as a jewellery gemstone is relatively short; however, many call it “the king of gems” because of its mysterious charm, and it is sometimes referred to as equal to the historical “four great gems,” diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald, a title, therefore, expanded to “five great gems” in order to include the alexandrite.

Alexandrite is very rare due to the small amount produced, and first-class gemstones with dazzling colour changes are incredibly precious and one of the most coveted gemstones worldwide. If you want to sell your alexandrite gemstones, please take advantage of our services at ALLU.

Customer Testimonials: Selling Alexandrite Jewellery at ALLU

Year after year, I was using it less and less.

I had an alexandrite ring that I had purchased online. I quite liked this ring and took good care of it, but year after year, I was using it less and less. Today I finally decided that I would sell it. I was recommended to get my ring appraised at ALLU through a work colleague. After taking the ring in, I left the store delighted as they bought it for a price that was more than I expected. Thank you, ALLU.

Thank you for selling your alexandrite jewellery at ALLU.

Thank you for visiting our store. Alexandrite is one of the world’s top colour-changing gemstones and also happens to be one of the rarest gemstones. The ring you brought in today was in excellent condition despite its many years of use, and the gemstone showed no signs of damage or deterioration. The good condition was reflected in our appraisal being higher than the average price. We are happy to hear that our valuation exceeded your expectations. If you have any other items you want to sell, we hope you consider taking advantage of our services again. Thank you for visiting us today.
