The 'Resale Impact' is not a display of an actual environmental reduction but rather a quantification of the environmental impact (CO2 emissions and water consumption) generated by the manufacturing and distribution process that can be theoretically omitted when a customer purchases a product we resell instead of a buying a brand new item of the same type. Since our calculation is predicated on the emissions in the omitted manufacturing and distribution process, actual reductions in environmental impact may differ from our projected estimate.
Since our company does not manufacture goods, our calculations cover any resold goods (watches, bags, jewellery (including bullion), apparel, and accessories).
Our company does not check and verify the actual numerical value of each item's environmental impact (CO2 emission and water consumption) for our Resale Impact. Instead, we base our calculations on data from the LCA database "Gabi*" and estimate the total environmental impact of an item's entire life cycle, from the procurement of its materials to its disposal and/or recycling. Our calculations were overseen by a third-party consulting firm.
Discrepancies in LCA results may occur due to differences in calculation assumptions or deficiencies in the manufacturing process.
Due to revisions in calculations, the latest calculated values of products may differ from those shown on product tags, etc.

Diamonds with inclusions, lack of shine or cloudiness may result in a lower evaluation.

But in order to yield an optimum selling price, it is important for an item to be 2ct and upward in colour, possess a degree of transparency and have uniform colour throughout. If a certificate of authenticity is provided, we may be able to offer even more for the gemstone, depending on if its origin and treatment are mentioned in the document. In addition, alexandrite and Paraiba tourmaline may also fetch high selling prices if certain conditions are met.

What overall factors are considered when formulating a selling price?

First of all, it is important to recognize that the factors affecting a selling price will vary based on the type of gemstone. In the case of coloured gemstones such as rubies and sapphires, colour, size, shine, style of cut, and the condition of the surrounding stones (melee diamonds) are of utmost importance. However, for diamonds, the four C’s are used as benchmarks for assessment. These include carat (a measure of weight), cut (a measure of brilliance), colour, and finally, clarity (a measure of transparency). All of these are considered important factors in the diamond assessment. Also, the weight of any underlying precious metals will influence the final selling price.

Will the selling price increase if the item I bring in is currently trending?

In general, there is a tendency for trending designs to fetch higher selling prices than out-of-style designs. However, the most important factor is the quality of the stone itself, not necessarily if a piece is trending or not. For example, an older piece featuring a high-quality stone will likely fetch a higher price than a piece with a trending design. Yes. However, it would be more fitting to say that rather than the size of a gem, its weight (carat) is of utmost importance to the one providing an assessment. Since the size of a gemstone inevitably increases with its weight, size is sometimes used as a criterion. If two diamonds of the same quality vary in size, it can be expected that the larger of the two will demand a higher value based on the scarcity of larger stones.

Is there anything I should bring with me when visiting for an appraisal?

If you have a certificate of authenticity for a gemstone, please bring it with you. Although bringing additional documents or accessories does not automatically mean that our selling price will increase, having those materials handy will ensure a smooth and more precise assessment. Sometimes, unclear information that could have been cleared up if certain documents were available can result in a reduced selling price. So, it is quite possible for those who bring in additional documents to receive a higher selling price for their items.

Which types of jewellery bullion have the highest selling prices? (Pink gold, yellow gold, white gold, platinum, etc.)

The order of selling prices from highest to lowest is as follows: 1. White Gold 2. Yellow Gold 3. Pink Gold 4. Absolutely. Please feel free to bring them in. In fact, diamonds—in contrast to coloured gemstones such as rubies or sapphires—yield high selling prices even for loose stones, as long as their grade is high.

Yes, there is a certain amount of influence. However, due to the plethora of market-dependent factors that affect selling prices, it is impossible to predict or accurately explain their influence. As a general rule, though, a weak yen implies that international sales will profit rather than domestic sales.

Can I sell gemstones that I bought while abroad?

By all means, yes! Foreign jewellery can often fetch high selling prices based on its design. If the certificate of authenticity states that a high-quality gemstone has been excavated from a specific site, this can increase the selling price, so please bring in your certificate of authenticity along with your jewellery when you visit ALLU. For example, emeralds from Columbia and rubies from Myanmar can fetch particularly high prices. Of course, we can offer appraisals for pieces even without a certificate of authenticity, so please visit us regardless.

Is it possible to sell a gemstone if I’m unsure of its name?

Absolutely, yes. If the article you bring in is an appraisable stone, we will offer you a corresponding price. However, because our rates vary greatly based on a gemstone’s quality, it is possible that you may receive a lower selling price for a low-quality gemstone. Please keep this in mind before visiting us.

Is it possible to sell only the diamond or gemstone from a ring and nothing else?

Yes, it is certainly possible. However, there are a few important points regarding this matter. If a gem is separated from its ring, we will be unable to restore it to its original affixed state. Even if you are unhappy with the price we offer and choose not to sell, we will be unable to reattach any separated stones, so please bear this in mind. We would recommend having the ring appraised as a whole before having a single gem from a ring appraised.

Is it possible to sell unbranded jewellery?

Yes, at ALLU, we purchase jewellery regardless of its brand. We have purchased many items in the past that had no specified brand name. Since gemstones are valuable on their own, even without a specific brand name associated with them, we are still able to perform appraisals for them. In addition, the presence of certificates of authenticity or certified written appraisals with unbranded pieces can increase our final selling prices, so feel free to bring unbranded items into ALLU for an appraisal. Customers should also be aware that depending on a gem’s type or manner of production, ALLU’s selling price may differ from the original purchase price of a gemstone. However, there are inverse cases in which an increased market demand causes our selling price to be higher than the original price.
